HRIA at the 2025 IEEE ICCP

    The Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, in collaboration with partners from the Romanian Artificial Intelligence Hub (HRIA), organized the 21st edition of the IEEE International Conference on Intelligent Computer Communication and Processing (ICCP 2025) in Cluj-Napoca, during October 16–18, 2025.

    The event brought together researchers, practitioners, and experts from around the world, ready to explore the latest advances in intelligent communication systems, artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, and advanced computational methods.

    ICCP 2025 included workshops, keynote lectures, invited sessions, and scientific paper presentations from various research fields.

    🧠 Workshops – supported through the HRIA project

    🔍 Trusted Artificial Intelligence – focusing on robustness, explainability, and the development of trustworthy AI systems

    Ten papers were presented by researchers from: “Gheorghe Asachi” Technical University of Iași, Babeș-Bolyai University of Cluj-Napoca, Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, “Iuliu Hațieganu” University of Medicine and Pharmacy Cluj-Napoca, National University of Science and Technology POLITEHNICA Bucharest, West University of Timișoara, Bosch Engineering Center Cluj, Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy Oradea, and Politehnica University Timișoara.

    🤖 Intelligent and Autonomous Systems – dedicated to advances in autonomous decision-making, robotics, and perception

    Ten papers were presented by researchers from Babeș-Bolyai University of Cluj-Napoca, Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, National University of Science and Technology “Politehnica” Bucharest, King’s College London, Bosch Engineering Center Cluj, Robert Bosch GmbH, and Politehnica University of Timișoara.

    🎤 Plenary lecture

    Vivi Năstase (Idiap Institute / University of Geneva) delivered a plenary lecture on their research and vision in the fields of machine learning, artificial intelligence, and system design.

    📚 Thematic sessions

    Sections dedicated to topics such as Artificial Intelligence in Medicine, Autonomous Driving, Machine Learning Techniques, Industrial Applications of AI, and others, with 76 presented papers including:

    • Decoding brain states from EEG using Transformer architectures
    • Open-world video panoptic segmentation for aerial perception based on foundation models
    • Interpretable and efficient CNN neural networks for multi-label ECG diagnosis at the edge computing level
    • Study on social bias in text and image generation and compliance with the EU AI Act

    🏭 Industrial Track

    ICCP 2025 also included a dedicated Industrial Track highlighting the research activities of the Bosch Engineering Center Cluj, conducted within the European IPCEI (Important Project of Common European Interest) project, aiming to develop advanced technologies for autonomous vehicles. This session featured 6 presentations and provided a unique perspective on how applied research and collaboration between industry and academia accelerate progress in autonomous driving, vehicle safety, and AI applied to transportation.

    ✅ Conclusions

    Over the course of three days, ICCP 2025 provided a strong platform for presenting the latest scientific results and encouraging collaboration between academia and industry. Participants at ICCP 2025 had the opportunity to interact with opinion leaders from both academic and industrial environments, access state-of-the-art research applicable in both theory and practice, take part in specialized workshops dedicated to deepening knowledge in niche areas, and engage in networking events that facilitate new collaborations and partnerships.

    The IEEE International Conference on Intelligent Computer Communication and Processing was held in-person in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, an important academic and technological innovation hub, bringing together over 100 researchers, practitioners, and experts from around the world.
